Breast Cancer Treatment

Beaumont breast cancer specialists treat more cases of breast cancer than any other type of cancer each year. Beaumont’s Comprehensive Breast Care Program integrates cancer prevention, early detection, rapid diagnosis, leading-edge therapies, and a variety of support, education and community outreach programs. Our high quality of care is reflected in survival rates that exceed the national average for all breast cancer stages at five years after diagnosis.

Our patient-focused breast cancer treatment begins with expedited diagnosis. A single telephone call to one of the Comprehensive Breast Care Centers, Royal Oak 248-551-3300 or Troy 248-964-5170, initiates coordinated care – comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, a customized breast cancer treatment plan, and follow-up.

  • Radiologists use the most up-to-date equipment, including digital mammography, MRI, and CT and PET scans. Beaumont currently leads the nation in enrolling patients for Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI), which significantly reduces breast cancer treatment time.
  • Board-certified surgeons with additional training in breast oncology offer an array of surgical and reconstructive options, including breast-conserving therapy (BCT).
  • Twenty-seven board-certified specialists in Medical Oncology with extensive experience provide innovative therapies and technologies.
  • Nurse navigators ensure consistent care, guidance, education and support as patients progress through the complex health-care delivery system.
  • The multidisciplinary team of breast cancer specialists includes experts in pathology, social work, genetic counseling, lymphedema and cancer rehabilitation.
  • The Cancer Clinical Trials Office gives patients the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical studies. As a Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP), Beaumont is one of 49 national research sites where physicians and patients are finding better methods of prevention, diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer.

Beaumont has been rated among the nation’s “Best Hospitals” for cancer care. This recognition highlights our dedication to providing effective and timely diagnosis, pioneering treatments, and compassionate care to our patients with breast cancer. Beaumont, Royal Oak has also recently received a three-year accreditation from the American College of Radiology for Breast MRI.
