Counseling and Social Work Services

Given all the challenges of a cancer diagnosis, some people find it helpful to talk things over with a trained and sympathetic listener. Social Work Services at Beaumont provide counseling services to individuals, families and caregivers at no charge.

The Social Work staff includes specially trained clinicians who help patients maximize their coping skills and help families handle survivorship, grief, loss and bereavement. Social workers coordinate care with the medical team and are trained in relaxation and cognitive behavioral techniques. They can also provide referrals to community resources.

In addition, Beaumont Hospitals offers Genetic Counseling to help people understand and adapt to the medical, psychological and familial implications of genetic contributions to disease.
