Positively Empowered

  • A Beaumont Sponsored support group for individuals with Heriditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome, such as BRCA1/2 carrier.
  • Provides both emotional support and education to BRCA gene carriers of all ages
  • Discussion about the difficult topics that commonly arise with BRCA carriers, such as how to talk to family members, how to talk to children, deciding about about prophylactic surgery, upcoming research, stress reduction, and much more!
  • Meets monthly at the Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak campus: Rose Cancer Center, 1st Floor Classroom, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Click here for the calendar of events and dates of the meeting.

Clinical Trials

  • Beaumont study collaborating with Dr. Steven Narod, a leader of research in BRCA: "Risk factor analysis of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer." This is an international database study of over 8000 BRCA positive women.
