‘Stars Guitars’ Auction and Concert Benefits Kids After Cancer

Autographed guitars from famous pop, rock and country musicians will be going on the auction block Oct. 22 to support the Charles A. Main, M.D. Pediatric Cancer Survivor Scholarship Fund of Beaumont Health System. The “Stars Guitars” gala will take place at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.

Beaumont Seeking Volunteers for Colon Cancer Prevention Study

Can a drug developed to lower cholesterol also help prevent colon cancer? Investigators at Beaumont are seeking volunteers who have had colon cancer removed by surgery for a national research trial. Researchers will study the effectiveness of the statin drug rosuvastatin in preventing a recurrence of cancer of the colon or rectum.

Beaumont Leads National Trial Studying Shorter Radiation Treatment for Breast Cancer

Beaumont Health System has launched national research of accelerated whole breast radiation treatment for women with early-stage breast cancer. The National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is providing funding for the study.

Beaumont is First in Southeast Michigan to Offer Molecular Imaging to Detect Breast Cancer

Beaumont, Troy is the first hospital in Southeast Michigan to use a new breast cancer imaging tool to help physicians diagnose early-stage breast cancer. The new technology is called Breast-Specific Gamma Imaging and is also known as Molecular Breast Imaging.
