Beaumont Hospitals approved for proton center

Beaumont Hospitals today received approval from the Michigan Department of Community Health to develop the state's first proton therapy center. The center is expected to be operational by 2010. Beaumont filed a Certificate of Need application on March 3 for approval to develop the $159-million facility.

Beaumont, Royal Oak named Blue Distinction Center for Complex and Rare Cancers

Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, has been named a Blue Distinction Center ^SM for Complex and Rare Cancers as part of a national program by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and its HMO affiliate, Blue Care Network. Only two Michigan hospitals earned this prestigious distinction.
